I work as an educator and facilitator across Manchester with 6+ years experience delivering in schools,

private and SEND environments. I have specialised in delivering music sessions and workshops on

composition, brass, piano, improvisation, theory and musicality. I have taught all ages and abilities from

beginners to honing skills post-conservatoire. I passionately believe that nobody should access barriers to

the benefits that playing and performing music can provide, and strive to reflect this in my work and the

projects I take on.

Recent experience:

Olympias Music Foundation SEND Facilitation (2023)

I worked as a SEND facilitator for Olympias Music Foundation at St John's Vianney RC School in

Manchester for 6 weeks in 2023. This involved age ranges of 10-18 and included both group sessions

and intensive interaction sessions 1 on 1. I also delivered songwriting workshops to the school classes, culminating in original songs and recordings for each group. They can be viewed here.

SEND & Looked After Children Music Sessions (2021-now)

I deliver SEND & looked after children music curriculum sessions for Stockport Music Service at Oak Grove School in Stockport. This includes all primary school year groups and largely focuses on group teaching and bringing student understanding of music towards national guidelines. Our latest project involved each class writing their own song, rhythms, melodies and bass-lines and getting involved with some production too. Due to their complex needs and requirements, the approach I take is highly supportive, creative and engaging to carry the class focus and morale. To support this, I draw upon my wide range of experience as a musician, building sessions around classical/jazz/klezmer/hip-hop, and moving between singing, playing, ensemble work, recording, music tech and composing.

Psappha "Very Young Composer" Scheme (2022)

The "Very Young Composer" scheme was run in conjunction with the New York Philharmonic and focused on enabling primary school children in Merseyside whom had never engaged with music, to write new pieces of music for a small ensemble from Psappha. I worked as a Teaching Artist, facilitating the sessions at two schools across the entire summer term, working on musical parameter understandings, introductions to instruments, notation, themes and concepts and finally performances.

 

Piccadilly Symphony Orchestra "This Is Us" (2022)

"This Is Us" was a scheme run for children in schools (secondary and primary) in north-east Manchester

in Moston and Harpurhey. The scheme involved visiting schools for several months to help write a song for each school group that represented the participants and gave them a voice. I was a supporting facilitator

and musician for this project.
